FYI #050190dl
This is how to insure that you mirror the cold boot loader. It
will enable you to boot from the secondary drive if the primary drive
crashes. This only works for v2.15C and above.
While in NINSTALL (spawned by NETGEN) on a clean "first time"
installation, the first option will be to "Hotfix Drives To
Default". Pick this option. Then the first option will be
replaced by "Initialize a Disk". Instead of initializing each
disk separately, go to the "Modify Mirror Tables" option and
establish the desired mirrored pair(s). Then use the "Initialize
a Disk" option and initialize the mirrored pair(s) as one logical
disk. (the status column will show "Mirrored").
Once this is completed, and the option is selected to install the
operating system within "Miscellaneous Maintenance", the cold
boot loader will be written to both mirrored drives which
correspond to volume SYS.
If you have a 2.1X system already and you have mirrored the
primary drive then you must upgrade to 2.15C. When installing
your upgrade the cold boot loader will be copied to both mirrored
SYS volume drives. This happens when you choose the option in
"Miscellaneous Maintenance" to install the operating system.
Also, if the primary drive crashes, the secondary (mirrored drive)
will not cold boot unless the controller and drive jumpers are
changed to CONTROLLER 0, DRIVE 0.
